Jessica Crane, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS

“I have the best job in the world! As a physical therapist, I get the opportunity to meet incredible people from all backgrounds and help them return to the things they love most from elite sports to knitting and just living life unencumbered by pain or limitations. I truly enjoy working with patients in a collaborative approach to develop a plan that best suits their needs and accomplishes their functional goals. Using evidence-based treatment techniques and compassion, I believe we can accomplish anything to get patients back to their sport or activity of choice.”

Jessica received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology & Biomechanics in 2013 from Sonoma State University. While there, she was a member of the Sonoma State Rowing Team as stroke seat and was Assistant Coach in 2012-13.

Jessica then moved to Miami, Florida where she started her Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Miami. While in Florida, Jessica pursued additional knowledge in high-level return to sport fitness and became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2015. She also assisted with the University of Miami Athletics department, specifically with pre and post season testing for the Miami Hurricanes Football team. Jessica worked closely with University of Miami professors to help progress research in the field of injury prevention screening.

Following graduation from the doctorate of physical therapy program, Jessica returned to her homeland of California to attend the University of Southern California for an Orthopedic Residency Program. During her residency, she gained an expansive knowledge of evidence-based practice in treatment of orthopedic conditions. Since completion of the residency program and becoming an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, Jessica has mentored USC orthopedic residents while working as a physical therapist in Diamond Bar, CA for over 4 years before joining Tustin Physical Therapy Specialists.

Jessica has additional training in LSVT-BIG, a specific protocol for improving movement and quality of life in patients with Parkinsonism which she has been performing since 2015. She also has long term experience performing Functional Capacity Evaluations, Work Conditioning and Work Hardening with training through ErgoScience and BTE. Jessica also works closely with Biomechanical Services and creates custom orthotics for all types of lower extremity and low back injuries.

Jessica is an avid recreational triathlete and runner whose performed several Ironman events, and she continues to train for the next 140.6 mile race. Due to her passion for exercise and triathlons, she has taken continuing education courses specific to swimming, cycling, and running with emphasis on dynamic trunk/core strength, importance of bike fit, lower extremity injuries and injuries specific to endurance athletes. Jessica had three knee surgeries before the age of 16, which led to her passion for physical therapy. This has resulted in a huge desire to implement injury prevention programs, especially in younger athletes.

Jessica strives for excellence in everything she does and adapts every treatment to each patient based on their unique needs. She uses empathy, evidence-based treatments, and an open communication with each patient to ensure they have a safe, comfortable and quick recovery.
